Konabiz Shampoo is a medicated anti-dandruff and anti-hair loss shampoo containing Ketoconazole, Zinc Pyrithione, Biotin, and Aloe Vera. It is primarily used to treat fungal infections of the scalp, such as dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis.

According to Arogga and MedEx, the key ingredients and their benefits are: 

Ø  Ketoconazole: An antifungal agent (1.99% w/v) that treats the root causes of dandruff and related scalp conditions by inhibiting the growth of the Malassezia yeast.

Ø  Zinc Pyrithione (ZPTO): Helps to control flaking, scaling, and itching associated with dandruff.

Ø  Biotin: Supports improved scalp condition and helps strengthen and thicken the appearance of hair.

Ø  Aloe Vera: Soothes dryness and irritation of the scalp. 

Indications and Usage of Konabiz Shampoo

Konabiz Shampoo is indicated for the treatment and prevention of the following conditions: 

Ø  Pityriasis capitis (dandruff)

Ø  Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp

Ø  Pityriasis versicolor (localized)

Directions for Use Konabiz Shampoo:

Ø  Wet the hair and scalp thoroughly.

Ø  Apply a sufficient amount of shampoo and work into a rich lather.

Ø  Leave the shampoo on the scalp for 3–5 minutes.

Ø  Rinse thoroughly with warm water. 

Recommended Schedule: Use twice weekly for 2 to 4 weeks for treatment, then once every 1 or 2 weeks for maintenance/prophylaxis, or as directed by a healthcare professional. 

Potential Side Effects of Konabiz Shampoo

While generally well-tolerated, some side effects may occur: 

Ø  Local burning sensation, itching, or contact dermatitis.

Ø  Oily or dry hair has been rarely reported.

Ø  Increased hair shedding is often associated with seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff itself, but has also been rarely reported with the use of similar ketoconazole shampoos.
