Jabit Lotion is a topical antiparasitic
medication commonly used to treat scabies and lice infestations. It typically
contains Permethrin (5% w/v) as the active ingredient.
Benefits of Jabit Lotion
Ø Treatment of Scabies: Effectively kills the mites (Sarcoptes
scabiei) and their eggs that burrow into the skin, causing intense itching
and rash.
Ø Treatment of Lice: Used to treat head lice and
other lice infestations.
Ø Relief of Symptoms: Eliminates the parasites
causing irritation, thereby reducing the itching, swelling, and redness
associated with scabies.
Ø High Efficacy: A single application is often
sufficient to cure the infestation.
Ingredients of Jabit Lotion
Ø Active Ingredient: Permethrin 5% w/v.
Ø Action Class: Ectoparasiticide.
How to Use Jabit Lotion
Ø Preparation: Take a bath or shower to ensure
the skin is clean, dry, and cool before application.
Ø Application: Apply the lotion thoroughly to
the entire body, from the neck down to the soles of the feet, not just the
affected areas.
Ø Specific Areas: Pay special attention to areas
between fingers and toes, underarms, waistline, buttocks, and under
fingernails/toenails.
Ø Children/Infants: For infants or young children,
include the neck, scalp, hairline, temples, and forehead.
Ø Duration: Leave the
lotion on for 8 to 14 hours (usually overnight) before washing it off in the
shower or bath.
Ø Second Treatment: A second application may be
needed if live mites are detected 7 days after the first application, or as
directed by a doctor.
Ø Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes, mouth,
and broken skin. Use gloves if applying to another person.
Side Effects of Jabit Lotion
Most side effects are mild and
transitory as the body adjusts to the medication:
Ø Common: Mild burning, stinging,
tingling, or itching of the skin.
Ø Less Common: Redness, swelling, numbness, or
skin rashes.
Ø Persistent Itching: Note that itching may continue
for up to 4 weeks after treatment; this is usually an allergic reaction to dead
mites rather than a failed treatment.
Ø Serious Reactions: In rare cases, breathing
difficulties may occur.
