Scabicos Lotion 100 ml

Scabicos Lotion is a topical anti-parasitic treatment that belongs to a class of medications called scabicides and pediculicides. It is an effective solution for highly contagious skin conditions that spread through direct physical contact. The lotion is for external use only and typically available as a prescription medication.

The primary active ingredient in many "Scabicos" or similar lotions (like Scabex, P-Scab, Scrabic) is typically Permethrin (usually 5% w/v for scabies, 1% for lice) or Gamma Benzene Hexachloride (also known as Lindane, typically 1%). The specific formulation depends on the exact product and manufacturer. 

Usage Instructions of Scabicos Lotion:

Always follow your doctor's specific instructions, as usage may vary slightly depending on the condition being treated. 

Ø  Preparation: Ensure the skin is clean, cool, and dry before application. Do not apply immediately after a hot bath or shower, as this can increase absorption.

Ø  Application:

v  For adults and children over 2 years: Apply a thin layer to the entire body surface from the neck down to the toes, including spaces between fingers and toes, under nails, and soles of feet.

v  For babies under 2 years: Apply to the face, neck, ears, and scalp as well, avoiding the immediate area around the eyes and mouth.

v  Rub the lotion lightly into the skin until it disappears.

Ø  Duration: Leave the lotion on for at least 8 to 12 hours (commonly overnight) before washing it off thoroughly with warm water.

Ø  Reapplication: Reapply to any area that might be washed during the treatment time (e.g., hands). Most cases require only one application; if a second application is needed, it is typically recommended a week later. 

Side Effects of Scabicos Lotion:

Most side effects are mild and transient. 

Ø  Common Side Effects:

v  Mild burning, stinging, or tingling sensation at the application site.

v  Skin irritation, such as redness, rash, or dry skin.

v  Persistent itching for a few weeks after treatment, which is usually an allergic reaction to the dead mites and not a sign of treatment failure.
