P-Soap 75 gm

P-Soap is a medicated soap containing Permethrin (1%), primarily used to treat parasitic skin infections like scabies and lice. It works by killing the mites and their eggs that burrow into the skin, causing severe itching. 

Benefits of P-Soap

Ø  Treats Scabies: Effectively kills Sarcoptes scabiei mites and their eggs, providing relief from intense itching and pimple-like rashes.

Ø  Kills Head Lice: Useful for eliminating head lice and their nits when applied to the scalp.

Ø  Antiseptic/Antifungal Properties: Some formulations include ingredients like Neem oil or Cetrimide, which help treat secondary skin infections, acne, and fungi.

Ø  Reduces Inflammation: It soothes irritated skin caused by infection.

Ø  Deep Cleansing: Removes debris and dirt to maintain skin hygiene during treatment. 

Ingredients of P-Soap

Ø  Active Ingredient: Permethrin 1% w/w.

Ø  Optional Additional Ingredients: Some brands, such as Silkin-P, include Neem oil, or others may contain Cetrimide and Menthol for additional antiseptic and cooling effects. 

Indications (When to Use) of P-Soap

P-Soap is indicated for:

Ø  Scabies infestation.

Ø  Lice infestations (pediculosis).

Ø  Skin infections associated with itching and rashes caused by mites. 

How to Use P-Soap

Ø  Preparation: Wet your body or scalp with warm water.

Ø  Application: Rub the soap directly onto the affected skin or scalp to generate a rich lather.

Ø  Wait Time: Allow the soap to sit on the skin for 3 to 5 minutes (for scabies) or up to 10 minutes (for lice).

Ø  Rinse: Rinse thoroughly with water.

Ø  Frequency: Follow your doctor’s advice, but it is typically used once or as needed to clear the infection. 

·         Note: Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and broken skin. 

Side Effects of P-Soap

While effective, P-Soap may cause mild side effects: 

Ø  Itching or stinging at the application site.

Ø  Redness or rash.

Ø  Dry skin.

Ø  Tingling or numbness of the skin.

·         Note: Persistent itching may occur for up to 4 weeks after successful treatment; this is an allergic reaction to dead mites, not necessarily treatment failure. 

Important Warnings of P-Soap

Ø  Do not use if allergic to permethrin, pyrethrins, or any other components.

Ø  Avoid using on children under 2 months of age without consulting a doctor.

Ø  Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Consult a doctor before use.

Ø  Environmental Cleaning: To prevent re-infection, wash all clothing, towels, and bedding in hot water.
